🇨🇦🇨🇦
Coach Steph Pelletier is returning for his 5th year with the Mental Goalie coaching team, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him back again this summer! Coach Steph brings a deep well of experience, a positive mindset, and a calm, thoughtful approach to coaching that has made him an invaluable part of our camps over the years. Steph sees the game through a unique lens, shaped by years of playing and studying the position. His perspective helps goalies better understand the "why" behind their movements and the "how" behind their growth. He’s not only a great coach on the ice—he’s been a mentor and positive influence to Coach Austin since day one, having helped out at our very first full-ice camp. Coach Steph’s favorite goalie is Bernie Parent, and one of his favorite early hockey memories is showing up to 6 a.m. practices in pajamas and always stopping for donuts afterward. More recently, he proudly played seven games in 24 hours to help win a tournament for the fifth consecutive year—a testament to his passion, resilience, and love for the game. We're lucky to have Coach Steph on our staff. You'll be able to catch him at the Weeklong Advanced Skills Camp in Saratoga Springs, NY. Next up today is Coach Ethan Cosker “Cosky”, an extremely talented and athletic goalie out of Saratoga Springs, and we’re pumped to have him back on our coaching staff for a second season. Ethan will be coaching at all three of our Saratoga Springs camps this summer—including the Fundamental Skills Weeklong Camp, Advanced Skills Weeklong Camp, and the Special Skills Camp. Ethan’s journey is a powerful example of resilience. After being cut from a AAA team, he didn’t hang his head—instead, he went to AA, battled his way back, and earned a spot on a AAA roster. This past season, he didn’t just make the team—he posted the highest save percentage at the U18 level across more than 30 games 👏🏽 He’s a 5-time New England District Camp Selection, plays for The New York Dynamo U18 AAA, and knows exactly what it takes to bounce back from setbacks and come out stronger. His story and skillset make him a huge asset for our goalie students, especially those learning to push through challenges and build real confidence. Monday's first coach introduction is first year coach with us, Ryan Ninemire! We’re excited to welcome Ryan Ninemire to our Junior Coaching Staff this year! Ryan will be joining us at the Fundamental Development Camp in Auburn, Maine, where he'll bring great energy and insight to our younger goalies. Ryan is a battler in the crease and shows up with the right attitude and work ethic every time he hits the ice. He’s a great communicator with the younger tendies and has a calm, confident way of connecting with them. Ryan began playing academy hockey at the 14U level with Seacoast Performance Academy in New Hampshire. He then spent his 15U season with Atlantic Coast Academy before joining the Maine Junior Mariners for his 16U year. This upcoming season, Ryan will be playing with the New Hampshire Mountain Kings Academy 17U team. His favorite goalie is Pekka Rinne, and his favorite hockey memory is walking around Broadway with his teammates in Nashville last season. We’re pumped to have Ryan on board—he’s a great addition to the coaching team and someone our younger goalies will definitely learn a lot from. #goalie #goalieschool

Our final coach introduction of this week (Monday we will begin to introduce our Leader Instructors) is Mason Snider! Mason is another a day-one Mental Goalie student who’s been training with us since 2019. Mason’s progression over the years is a true testament to his discipline, focus, and incredible attitude. He’s a battler in every sense—he refuses to give up on a puck, and his unique, athletic playing style has a way of throwing shooters completely off their rhythm. Mason found great success at the high school level in New York State, helping lead his team to a NYS Section II Championship and a run to the state semifinals. After high school, he was recruited to play at Thomas College in Maine, where he had a personally strong freshman season before transferring to SUNY Brockport to be closer to home. Now playing on their men's club team, Mason became an AAU D2 National contender and had a breakout sophomore campaign this past season. What makes Mason stand out as a coach is the energy and empathy he brings to the ice. He truly understands the youth goalie mindset—especially when it comes to confidence. He’s been through the tough moments, battled through adversity, and brings that lived experience to every session. Mason is entering his third season coaching with us, and we’re thrilled to have him back. Fun fact about Mason: he loves the ice cream shakes at @stewartsshops ! You’ll be able to catch Mason this summer at our Saratoga Springs week-long development camps, as well as the Special Skills Camp. Next coach introduction, Logan Rousseau! We’re excited to welcome Logan Rousseau to our coaching staff this summer as a first-year Junior Coaching Staff Member! Logan has been training with us for the past three years, and it’s been awesome to watch his growth—not just as a goalie, but as a leader and teammate. He’s coming off a strong season where he won the Maine State Championship with the Nordiques 16U A team and played varsity for St. Dominic Academy's high school program. What stands out about Logan is his relentless work ethic and focus. He’s incredibly determined and knows exactly what it takes to stay disciplined and chase down big goals. That mindset makes him a great fit for our coaching team and a strong role model for the younger athletes. This upcoming season, Logan will be playing for the Nordiques 16U AA team while also picking up time with the Maine Nordiques NA3HL team, gaining valuable experience at the junior level. You’ll catch Logan coaching with us at the Auburn, Maine Week Long Fundamental Development Camp, the Falmouth Friday Night Series, and Tuesday nights at the Auburn Special Skills Camp. Next up is Daniel Berdar, one of our Junior Coaching Staff members and a day-one student who's been training with Coach Austin since 2018. He’s entering his second year coaching with The Mental Goalie, and it’s been a full-circle moment to see him now giving back to younger goalies just like he once was. Daniel understands better than most the mental grind and discipline it takes to reach an elite level. He’s currently entering his third season with Bishop Kearney Selects, one of the top prep programs in North America, and has been a standout goaltender there. Last season, as a 15-year-old, Daniel stepped in as a relief goalie during the 18U nepack tournament, playing 2 games for a .915 sv %. That level of poise and confidence speaks volumes about his maturity and skill. He’s also a New York State Champion at 14U, a runner-up at 15U, and led the state tournament in save percentage during his 14U run. Daniel came up through the Clifton Park Dynamo AAA program, and his journey from youth hockey to being scouted by BK Selects is a testament to his incredible work ethic. You’ll see Daniel on the ice this summer at our Week-Long Development Camps and Special Skills Camp in Saratoga Springs, where he’ll be helping guide the next wave of young netminders. He’s a great example of resilience, mental toughness, and what it looks like to grow through the game. #bkselects

Starting today's Coach Spotlight off with Coach Ja

Starting today's Coach Spotlight off with Coach Jayden Lynn! A proud St. Dom’s alum (like Coach Austin himself), Jayden Lynn joins our Senior Coaching staff with a strong foundation in both playing and teaching the position. Jayden’s calm presence, strong skating, and commitment to the fundamentals make him a valuable asset to our camps—especially for younger goalies looking to build consistency and confidence in their game. Jayden played four years at Saint Dominic Academy, earning Second Team All-State and All-Region honors as a senior. He went on to compete at the U18 AAA level with the New Hampshire Avalanche for two seasons and is now continuing his career at Saint Anselm College, playing ACHA D2.

You’ll catch Jayden this summer at our Falmouth Friday Night Series and our Weeklong Development Camps in Auburn. Having worked with Coach Austin for over four years, he brings a deep understanding of our teaching approach and what it takes to help young goalies improve. His patience, technical focus, and ability to connect with students make him a great fit for our development-focused programs. Our last coach introduction of the day is spotlights Coach Braydon Fitch! "Fitchy" will be a core member of our senior coaching staff entering his second year with us. From the first time Braydon stepped on the ice at camp last summer, we knew we had someone special. He's an incredible coach with a unique ability to connect with our youth goalies—he listens intently, communicates clearly, and has a real gift for helping kids see their game differently. He brings out the best in the students he works with, and we’re pumped to have him back this year. Braydon was a Class B Maine High School Hockey State Champion with Cheverus High School this past winter and was named a 2025 Senior All-Star. This fall, he’ll be continuing his playing career with the Central Maine Community College men’s hockey team. A Maine Wild youth hockey alum, Braydon also played three seasons of prep hockey with North Yarmouth Academy. You’ll catch Braydon coaching at our Maine offerings this summer, including our Friday Night Series in Falmouth, our Week-Long Development Camps in Auburn, Maine, and occasionally at semi-private sessions at the new @theiceshackmaine where he’ll be assisting Coach Austin whenever his schedule allows. His favorite hockey memory is playing the sport he loves across North America—from Nashville to Canada, Long Island to Philadelphia. His favorite goalie? No surprise for a Mainer: Jeremy Swayman.

Next Up! Coach Sebastian Wigfield We’re excited

Next Up! Coach Sebastian Wigfield We’re excited to welcome Sebastian Wigfield to our Senior Coaching staff for the first time this summer! Currently playing ACHA Division 1 hockey at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, Sebastian brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and insight to the position. With a background that spans high-level high school, junior hockey, and college, he’s someone our goalies can learn a lot from—both on and off the ice. Originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK and raised in Illinois, Sebastian attended St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago, where he served as both assistant captain and captain of the varsity team. After graduation, he played two years of junior hockey with the Chicago Cougars, New England Wolves, and Battle Creek Kernels—earning a reputation as a composed, committed, and mentally strong presence in the crease. He’s now studying Psychology and Neuroscience at Hope College, with a particular interest in the mental side of goaltending and peak performance. It’s a perspective that adds real depth to his coaching style, especially when helping goalies manage pressure and build confidence. You’ll see Wiggy at our Auburn, Maine Week Long Development Camps this summer, where he’ll be sharing his knowledge, his calm approach, and work ethic! #goaliecoaches #goalieschool #summercamp

Our first coach introduction today is newest Senior Coaching Staff Member, Gabe Pomerleau! We’re excited to welcome Gabe "Poms" to our staff this summer. Gabe is a well-known name in the Lewiston/Auburn hockey community, bringing a sharp eye for the game and a strong understanding of youth development. His experience and leadership make him an excellent mentor for goalies of all ages. Gabe made a name for himself at Lewiston High School, where he was a state champion goalie and earned First Team All-State honors. He is a 14U National Championship winner, and last year played for the Maine Nordiques NA3HL. This coming fall, he'll play with the Nordiques 18UAAA program. While his track record speaks for itself, it’s Gabe’s ability to teach, communicate, and connect with students that truly sets him apart as a coach. This summer, you’ll see Gabe at our Friday Night Series in Falmouth, the Weeklong Advanced Camp in Auburn, and the Tuesday Night Special Skills Camp—also in Auburn. Whether he’s breaking down technique or helping goalies see the game more clearly, Gabe’s presence on the ice is a big win for our program. Our last coach introduction for today is Junior Coaching Staff Member Chris Pooler! 🏊🏽 Chris joins us for his 3rd year as a Junior Staff Member this summer! Chris will be helping out at our Week Long Fundamental Development Camp and Special Skills Camp in Saratoga Springs. Chris likes to remind people that he was Coach Austin's very first student, which is a great memory! Chris has been a Mental Goalie student since 2018 and we've seen firsthand the growth and resilience brought to his goaltending journey. From starting on the C team in squirt hockey, to earning a spot on AA teams, and eventually becoming a top high school goalie in New York State, Chris has truly earned every step. This fall, Chris will be heading to the University of Albany, where he’s set to be the starting goaltender. His journey is a great example to our younger goalies of what hard work, persistence, and coachability can achieve. A few fun facts—Chris was named News Channel 13 Athlete of the Week, once made 41 saves in a 2–1 tournament win, and his favorite goalie is Henrik Lundqvist. Next up in our Coach Introduction Spotlight: Coach Marshall Cohen (Marshy) 🧱 We’re thrilled to have Marshall Cohen returning for his second season on our Junior Coaching Staff! Marshall has been a student of The Mental Goalie since 2019, and his growth as a goalie has been incredible. This summer, he’ll be working with goalies at our New Yoek Fundamental Development Camps and Special Skills canp, bringing a unique understanding of both the technical and mental side of goaltending—especially when it comes to working with our younger netminders. Marshall has a deep understanding of the grind it takes to develop from recreational hockey all the way up to the high levels of AAA. His personal journey from Bethlehem Youth Hockey (starting as a Squirt C goalie) to playing for Schenectady AA, then Christian Brother Academy Varsity, and eventually advancing to NY Dynamo AAA 16U during his junior year, gives him a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and rewards of goalie development. Marshall’s now heading into his 18U Canadian prep season with Crystal Beach in the NAPHL, and we’re excited to see what he’ll accomplish in the coming year. Marshall will be heading to Canada next year to continue his hockey journey, so we’re lucky to have him on staff before he heads north. We’re excited to have Marshall bring his energy, knowledge, and experience to our camps this year, and I know our youth goalies will benefit greatly from his expertise and passion for the game! 🔒 in! #goalieschool #goaliecamps #hockeycamps #summercamp #goalies #hockey
